On March 20, 2013, the graduating class of 2013 went through the residency match program of the Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies(CASPR) program coordinated by the Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH) of the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM). A large number of the students did not place into residency training programs. This is a devastating event.

Physicians and practice managers are not ready to comply with a July 1 deadline for a new Medicare billing policy that would pay lower rates for certain office visits and other services in facility-owned physician practices, associations representing doctors and administrators have told government officials.

Barry Receives Funding in 2012 State Budget

Through the collective advocacy efforts of the Department of External Affairs, the School of Podiatric Medicine, the Center for Juvenile Justice, the Division of Nursing, and the School of Social Work, Barry University has received state funding in the amount of $523,520. Florida Gov. Rick Scott recently signed the state’s budget which included the line items containing Barry’s funding. The money provided will go toward funding three Barry initiatives that address vital needs in the state and aim to reduce overall costs to taxpayers.
